At the UICN World Congress for Nature, the members adopted nearly 30 recommendations regarding the ocean, committed to increasing protection of the marine environment to jointly address the interconnected crises of climate and biodiversity.
The UICN, with its members and experts, have an important role to play in supporting these communities in upcoming international negotiations and deadlines that will mark the year 2022, namely the treaty on the high seas, the agreement on the fight against plastic pollution, the planning of maritime areas, and Marine Protected Areas.
In order to mobilize the French-speaking countries of the UICN on these issues, the French committee of the UICN and the director of the French-speaking countries of the UICN organized a webinar on June 8th, 2022 with the theme “2022: Year of the Oceans!” that can be found below.
