Alongside the AFdPZ and Planète Sauvage, we visited the Paris Aquarium with the President of the Aquarium Alexis Powilewicz. Located in the heart of Paris, the aquarium is a veritable reservoir of genetic heritage offering an encounter with 13 000 fish and invertebrates from all the seas of metropolitan France and overseas. Among these animals, the aquarium has 38 large sharks, 2500 jellyfish and 300 coral colonies.
The role of zoos and aquariums has become even more crucial, considering that they are the last refuges of endangered species. These spaces become unique places to learn about the biology of our species.
We must continue to work with aquariums to better understand and preserve our biodiversity.
