In view of the 9th edition of the World Water Forum which opens today in Dakar, and which will take place from 21 to 26 March 2022, I attended a working meeting with the IUCN Regional Office for Central and East Africa – PACO – which reminded us that there is no universal solution to water problems.
Multiple approaches are needed, along with more democratic management of our natural ecosystems such as forests, lakes, wetlands and within river basins, which can and must play a central role in responding to climate change and building an equitable and sustainable world.
We will continue to engage in all our territories to fight climate change.
