On May 22, 2020, on International Biodiversity Day, the ACT now collective to which I belong published a Tribune, to reaffirm that ” we do not have to choose between economic recovery and the preservation of the living. ” This forum invites the 193 UN member states to declare a state of environmental and climate emergency.
By creating this collective with filmmaker Maga Ettori, we wanted to go further than short-term statements by bringing together in a movement 272 personalities from different horizons: artists, sportsmen, intellectuals and public figures including my friends Sandrine Belier, director of the NGO “Humanity and biodiversity,” Allain Bougrain-Dubourg, president of the LPO, Muriel Arnal of “one voice,” Pascale Joan not of MNHM, Nicolas Imbert of the green cross.
Our goal: To get the United Nations to create a World Day of environmental and climate emergency on July 5. Moreover, prepare together a mobilization that the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, next September, gives a new insight into the protection of the planet.
